Meditative Drawing

For the past three years, I have been dealing with chronic health issues. My worst symptoms have primarily involved pain and energy management issues. The symptoms are made worse by stress. More and more, I have fallen back on my music and art background and it has been a huge support for my new normal.

I hadn’t been researching surrealism, but I had been having the urge to draw without knowing what to draw. Then in late September of 2020, I started doing automatic drawing. It was spontaneous and I loved it. I hadn’t had this easy of a time drawing since I was a young child. At first the images were just random landscapes. But with time, I started seeing more to pull out of the images.

This drawing method has turned into a meditation for me. When I am needing to calm myself or re-center, this is the fastest way for me to feel better.
